The APPOINTED TIMES of Almighty Yahuah (YHUH/YHWH) Shavuot — The Festival of Weeks

The Feast of Weeks (Shavuot) stands out as one of the most significant festivals in YHUH/YHWH’S Appointed Times calendar (Lev 23:15-22).

Please NOTE that this is YHUH’s appointed time, NOT that of the “Jews” as many teach, even though the Jews, as well as many other Believers celebrate it throughout the world.

It occurred fifty days after the first Passover in Egypt (which included the Festival of First Fruits) when the Hebrew people came to Mount Sinai and received the Torah of YHUH (first five books of Scripture, written by Mosheh (Moses)).

In Hebrew the word “Shavuot” means “weeks”, and comprises the seven weeks during which the Hebrew people prepared themselves for the giving of the Torah (Teachings of ELohim (Almighty)).
During this time they rid themselves of the scares of bondage, immorality, and became a set-apart nation ready to stand before Yahuah. Many compare this event to a [wedding] between Yahuah and the Hebrew people. Just as a bride today prepares herself to meet her groom, so the Hebrew people got themselves ready to become His set-apart nation and He became their Elohim (Almighty). The Yisraelites camped at Mount Sinai and were instructed by Yahuah on SET-APART living, which entailed all His right-rulings, instructions and commandments in His Torah. These were Yahuah’s gift to His set-apart people, and His direction guiding them to abundant life.

Much of the “modern-day [apostate] church” today does not even acknowledge this gift. The Festival of Harvest is sometimes called “The Feast of Weeks” or “The First fruits of the Wheat Harvest”. It was a joyful occasion celebrating the end of the harvest season and dedicating one’s life anew to Father Yahuah. The festival is also a prophetic symbol of the great harvest of souls that took place when the Qodesh Ruach (Set Apart Spirit) of Yahuah came upon the first-century Believers. This fourth appointed time was to occur precisely on the fiftieth day of First fruits. Therefore, the feast was given the name “Pentecost” in Greek (Act 2:1), which means “fifty.”

It was the second major feast which all able-bodied Hebrew males were required to attend (the other two being Passover and the Feast of Tabernacles). It was celebrated as a Sabbath with REST from ordinary labors (no work) and the calling of a set apart gathering.

The Feast of Weeks is a symbolic festival which pointed to the giving of the Qodesh Ruach or Ruach HaQodesh (Set-Apart Spirit) of Yahuah as part of the Renewed Covenant. The Son (Yahusha) of Yahuah ascended to the throne on First fruits. He then spent forty days with His taught ones (disciples) in post-resurrection ministry. The disciples were commanded to wait at Yerushalayim (Jerusalem) until He came (Act 1:4), and they knew exactly how long they would have to wait. The coming of the Ruach HaQodesh (Set-apart Spirit) would occur on the next Hebrew holiday – a festive time when Hebrews from different countries were to be in Yerushalayim to celebrate the completion of the harvest season. This annual festival was none other than Shavuot or the Feast of Weeks. The disciples waited as they were commanded; however, their wait was not long – only ten days. The Set-Apart Spirit of Yahuah descended on those first-century believers.

There is much prophetic significance in Shavuot. One is the offering of the two loaves of bread unto Yahuah (Lev 23:17). These two loaves are baked with leaven, which we know is a type of sin — they represent the Jew (house of Yahudah) and Gentile (house of Ephrayim) joined together in Messiah. In Yahudah and Ephrayim (representing restored Yisrael (Eze 37) or as many would ERRONEOUSLY understand it to be “the church”) there is still leaven (sin), whereas in Messiah Yahusha (the head of the Body of Believers) there is no leaven (sin).

Another prophetic sign has to do with the book of Ruth, which is also read during this Festival. As mentioned, Shavuot is the time of the wheat harvest in the land of Yisrael. Ruth, a Gentile, returned with her Jewish mother in law, Naomi, to the land of Yisrael during the time of the beginning of the harvest.

One of the commandments given regarding Shavuot was Wayyiqra (Lev) 23:22, where it states that the corners of a field being harvested must be left for the poor and the stranger (Gentile). It was because of this law that Ruth, a Gentile, met and married Boaz, a Yahudim (Jew), bringing forth a son, who became the ancestor of our Messiah, Yahusha. Shavuot also points to the future of Yahuah’s promise of the latter day great harvest of souls.

Today the 21st century “church” calls this Festival “Pentecost”, where “The Spirit” came upon believers (Act 2:1-4). In order to have a fuller revelation of this event, Act 2:1 should read as follows: “And when the day of the festival of Shavuot (Weeks) had come, the believers were all gathered together in one mind in one place.” We need to be aware that as the taught ones (disciples) of Messiah Yahusha were gathered together waiting for the promise of the Set-Apart Spirit of Yahuah, they were in obedience to Scripture observing Shavuot, celebrating the giving of the Torah. They were reading specific assigned Scriptures from the books of Shemoth (Exodus) and Yehezqel (Ezekiel) which spoke about signs and wonders like the fire, smoke, and lightening that were seen on that day. We know that this same “fire” came upon them.

Through man’s ignorance, pride, and the deception of satan, believers including “Christians” have been robbed of the true Messianic message and prophecies contained within Yahuah’s Appointed Times. Scriptural set-apart days have been replaced by Romanized Church traditions with pagan roots (like new years, christmas, halloween, valentines, easter, thanksgiving etc).

Yahuah’s Appointed Times have become “The Jewish Holidays” and the Scriptural SIGNIFICANCE of Yahusha Messiah found in these Festivals has been discarded.

Messiah Yahusha said, “I am the truth,” – the truth about Him is to be found and celebrated in every Appointed Time of Yahuah’s Scriptural calendar, including the weekly 7th day (sat- day) Sabbath. These Festivals are for all who are fellow citizens in Yahuah’s reign (kingdom) and members of His household. Yahuah chose the HEBREWS, anointed a chosen people, appointed a priesthood, and gave an annual schedule of events that was intended to be a blessing to both Jew and non-Jew believers everywhere. “Christianity”, correctly translated as “Messianic” belief, without our Hebrew roots is void of revelation knowledge and proper understanding of Scripture.

Mishley (Prov) 22:28 says, “Do not remove the ancient boundary (landmarks) that your fathers have set.”
Four (4) times in Wayyiqra (Lev) chapter 23, Believers are COMMANDED to observe the festivals of Yahuah unto ALL GENERATIONS! (Verses 14, 21, 31 and 41)!

Will believers continue in the erroneous ways of religion, following a different Calendar (Roman) than that which the Almighty INSTITUTED and COMMANDED, or will they REPENT and start following the TRUE SCRIPTURAL CALENDAR of Almighty Yahuah? Who should we serve and follow?

Man/church/denomination, or Almighty Father YAHUAH, through His Son YAHUSHA, Who is our Messiah, Shepherd, Leader, Teacher, Master, King and Bridegroom?

Mat 19:17b But if you wish to enter into life, guard the commands.”

Yohanan (Joh) 14:15 “If you love Me, you shall guard My commands”.

1Yoh 2:3-4 And by this we know that we know Him, if we guard His commands. The one who says, “I know Him,” and does not guard His commands, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

1Yoh 5:3 For this is the love for Elohim, that we guard His commands, and His commands are not heavy.

2Yoh 1:6 And this is the love, that we walk according to His commands. This is the command, that as you have heard FROM the BEGINNING, you should walk in it.

Hazon (Rev) 14:12 Here is the endurance of the set-apart ones, here are those guarding the commands of Elohim and the belief of Yahusha!
